Rosa Sharpe CFIFF Wishing You 'Happy Jubillee!'

Rosa Sharpe CFIFF Seeks Good Anglers

Rosa Sharpe popped into the Summer Omemee Family Fishing Festival to meet and greet area anglers. Rosa, who is helping judge our First Annual Summer Omemee Fishing Festival Fish photo contest, is looking for a few good anglers for a very special team. Rosa Sharpe, and Charlie Ross formed Canadian Freshwater International Fishing Federation earlier this year. The not-for-profit organization, which launched in April, is seeking members for a selection committee to choose teams of anglers to compete at national and international fishing events.

Image Rosa Sharpe Lures and Tours

The first team CFIFF wants to create will compete at the 2013 World Ice Fishing Championship, which will take place in the U.S.A. The ice fishing team will be consist of eight people—five anglers, two coaches and one manager. The 2013 World Ice Fishing Championship is one in a series of events sanctioned by the Italy-based International Federation of Sport Fishing in Fresh Waters. The FIPS-ed has several fishing disciplines, including: ice fishing, boat and shore fishing with artificial baits, and trout fishing with natural baits.

Last year’s Ice Fishing Championship took place in Kazakhstan, and was won by Belarus. Rosa Sharpe, and partner Charlie Ross, of Lures and Tours took the initiative to form the CFIFF,because they feel Canada is under-represented at international fishing events. Omemee Family Fishing Festival Welcomes Dr. Crayfish!

Dr. Premek Hamr specializes in Crayfish. Dr. Hamr popped into Omemee Famiky Fushing headquarters at 41 King Street East to share som very important information about Crayfish.
Did you know that most crayfish caught in local waters are not native to this aeprea? Rusty Crayfish were some how moved from their USA homes to Ontario lakes and streams,so it can be very difficult to find our own local species.

Did you know that moving crayfish from one body of water to another is illegal. To try to prevent future expansion of species from one area to another, it is important to not move cray fish from place to place.

Did you know crayfish are an excellent indicator of the health of our water? Crayfish are an integral part of water habitats, and food chains.

Did you know crayfish are no longer allowed to be used as bait? Here is a YouTube Interview with Dr.Premek Hamr. If you are lucky ,you might catch a glimpse of his car in the Omemee area -just watch for his lisence plate: Ontario CRAYFISH Yours to duscover!
